I started working with Cognex Corporation in 2001 with a CEO portrait for their annual report. Our early collaborations were fairly simple (though irreverent) affairs. Over the years, the annuals have become highly creative (and pretty wacky) endeavors.
These works have consistently pushed the envelope of investor relations materials. With the intrepid leadership of former-CEO Bob Shillman and the talents of Point One Design, our annual parody reports never fail to get noticed (we’ve won numerous design awards, and um, yearly cease-and-desist orders from the parody targets).
The 2021 annual, “Agents of Automation,” continues the run. It features new CEO Rob Williett in a James Bond movie poster spoof.
Our photography has received the Silver Award at MarCom in its division (MarCom is the world’s largest international awards competition for marketing and communication professionals).
So often, clients change their marketing team or their approach. They hire a “fresh” team, but there’s a learning curve that takes a toll, and the new dynamic doesn’t always work out. The trick, as I see it, is to stick with the people you love working with and find a way to continually create fresh work.
